You would be surprised at how well this method ‘Marketing Your Website Offline” actually works, for MANY online niches. The ones that work best are:

1. Make Money Online Opportunities
2. Work from Home
3. Weight Loss
4. Travel
5. Health/Fitness
6. Beauty

There are quite a number of ways you can market your online business, offline. A very basic way is to have business cards made with your website address (URL) on the card nice and big. Leaving these business cards in the appropriate places (provided you have permission) works wonders!

For example, if you have a website that is in the 'make money online' niche, the best places to leave your business cards would be next to things that have to do with money. Next to the scratch-off lottery tickets at a convenient store or gas station is an excellent place to put a stack of cards that says "Make Money Online, Work From Home" or something related and more specific, such as "Earn $500 from Home!" and of course have your website URL nice and bold.

This can generate a lot of website traffic that you may have NEVER got if you hadn't put business cards in these key places. The weight loss niche is also a hot one. You can leave business cards at ice cream shops, burger places, gyms, spas, gas stations, convenient stores, etc. and get a great response as well.

Besides business cards there are: Flyers, Car Magnets, Signs, Newspaper Ads, Television or Radio Ads (can get a little expensive, but can also produce excellent results). Getting a local radio station to mention your URL and a brief description or sales pitch for your site can get you a lot of business and be very much worth a couple thousand dollars.

You can get as creative as you want with offline promotions. You can do direct mailing, put little signs in the ground where there is a lot of traffic (similar to the campaigning signs you see around everywhere only advertising your site). It is important that you do not break any city, county or federal rules and laws in your marketing efforts so always do your research as to what is allowed and what isn't.

Every successful person and/or corporation is involved in outsourcing of some sort. Usually, this is the very key that allows them to achieve the level of success that they do. If the owner of the Ford Motor Company had to make all the cars himself, do you think the company would be where they are today? The fact that they can outsource their work to enough people, who know what they are doing, makes them able to reach the success level that they desire.

You've heard the term, "Two heads are better than one." This rings true in a lot of aspects of life. It's kind of like that with outsourcing. If you can write 5 articles a day, that is great. However, if you can write 5 a day, and outsource another 5 articles per day, then that makes it 10 articles a day, instead of 5.

That just DOUBLED your marketing efforts right there, so as I said in the title of this report...You will increase your profits and enhance your business if you implement these tips. If you DOUBLE your output, you will have DOUBLE the results. Imagine if you outsourced a lot more often, or on a broader scale. Putting the KEYWORD that you are targeting in the TITLE of the video is the best way to get your video listed on the search engines (Google) the fastest and highest ranking. There are also keyword tags that you can input in the 'tags' section of your video. It is very easy to get a FREE account with YouTube.com and it is also very easy and FREE to post as many videos as you like! This is a very powerful marketing tool right at your fingertips, and it's free.

Additionally, once you post a video to YouTube, not only will you receive traffic to your video from YouTube surfers, but also from Google searchers...But you will also be able to place the video on your website. They give you the embedded HTML code for you to simply 'copy and paste' into your website and/or blog. This gives your website the power of video -- without costing you a dime! You are surely leaving money on the table if you do not get involved with video marketing.

Enhance Your Business and Increase Your Profits

There are many things we as marketers can do in order to enhance our business and increase our profits. If we aren't doing everything we possibly can to make the most out of our businesses, then we are leaving money on the table, right? It's not rocket science and it certainly isn't difficult to understand.

This report is going to discuss 10 important, and possible crucial facts/ideas that if implemented, will increase your business as well as your profits.

Here they are:

1. PRIORITIZE

The first tip for enhancing your business and increasing your profits that I would like to share with you, is that you must 'prioritize' when you are working or conducting your business. This can be done in a lot of ways and in a lot of different aspects.

For instance, what is a bigger priority, hanging out on the Warrior Forum's Main Discussion section, OR writing an article (or two or three!) to promote your website, product or services? Obviously the latter should be a higher priority, but which one do you often choose to do instead? An article can be written in anywhere from 15 minutes, to an hour. Even I find myself spending anywhere from 10 minutes to several hours on the forum when I could be doing much more for my business. (Not that the information on the forum doesn't help your business, because it very much does!).

This is just one example of something you can do to prioritize your TIME better. You can also prioritize other things just as strategically. You can prioritize which projects or tasks you will work on first and in order of importance.

One problem that many marketers (and Warriors) face, is checking their stats or email much more often than needed, which takes them away from important tasks that should be getting done.

2. ADD A NEW MARKETING TECHNIQUE TO YOUR ROUTINE

This tip is an extremely effective one. Let's say you have 4 main marketing methods that you use to promote your business. Just as an example, let's say those 4 methods were:

1. Pay-Per-Click Advertising (PPC)
2. Classified Ads (Craigslist, etc.)
3. Social Network Marketing
4. Blogging

This is an excellent group of advertising methods to combine and implement. But, what if you were to add another marketing method in there, such as article writing for example. That would make it 5 methods instead of 4, making your new 'article marketing' method encompass a whopping 20% of your advertising!

That means you can add a lot of business and increase your profits by a significant amount by adding new marketing methods to your existing campaign.

You can add more than one method for even better results. There are many marketing techniques that are great to add to your repertoire, like:

1. SEO
2. Link Building
3. Article Writing
4. PPC
5. Blogging
6. Social Network Marketing
7. Classified Ad Marketing
8. Offline Marketing (Business Cards, Flyers, Car Magnet, etc.)
9. Offline Newspaper Classified Ads
10. Answer Board Marketing

First and foremost is to figure out if you have the motivation to leave your job and work for yourself?

There is no ‘one’ secret to making tons of money online. There are certain insiders tips and tactics to help you succeed with topics such as writing articles, submitting press releases, improving search engine placement etc, but none of those tactics will be useful to you unless you master the ability to be disciplined, focused and consistent.

Master those and I guarantee you will have more success. If you don’t have those traits, you will just continue to purchase courses, software and programs to build a collection of digital waste.

To tell you the truth, when I started off, I was not sure if I had what it takes to work for myself. I over came my limitations because I focused on the end result and not the process of working.

For me it was a do or die kind of mentality which made me have success in my business. So stop searching for the perfect course. Someone else's perfect course may not be what you like to do.

Get specific in what you are looking for and evaluate yourself to see if you will actually take the necessary steps to follow through what the course teaches.

Social Bookmarking could be one of the best things that ever happened to websites and blogs.

Basically Social Bookmarketing sites allow users to create a set of content bookmarks.

These bookmarks are organized by tags, which are (usually) arbitrary words or phrases the user can assign to content. This gives the user a way to classify, rank and organize content using tags.

The most popular Social Bookmarking Site is del.ici.ous, which has millions of users.

Social Bookmarking sites have an intrinsic advantage over search engines and other bots — people choose what to bookmark rather than relying on a program to categorize and qualify the content.

There is an implied quality in something that someone has taken the time to select.

Social Bookmarkers read other people’s bookmarks and add them to their own if they like them.

There are also RSS feeds so people can see what others are tagging, which I think is really cool, and a textbook example of viral marketing.

There is a terrific WordPress plugin called Sociable that allows direct tagging for tons of Social Bookmarking sites. If you do not have it as part of your blog you should get it and install it today.

This blog is being redesigned and should be done in a few weeks. The new design will incorporate Sociable.

So…what can YOU do to get the social bookmarking virus ramped up?

I see two basic considerations:

1. Write good content. Darren Rouse had an interesting observation about del.icio.us items that make it to the top of the site. You can take a look, but basically he observes that lists, how-tos, technical articles and humor get to the top faster.

2. Give people the tools to bookmark easily. If you have a blog, use Sociable. It is terrific. If you have a site, there are plenty of interesting tools that will help you make it easy for your visitors to bookmark your content. AddtoBookmarks.com is a good one.

There are Social Bookmarking sites popping up all over the place.

Let’s start with a clear understanding of what a call to action actually is. A call to action is an element or something that entices a reader or viewer to take note or make a decision based upon it.

Relating this directly to the Internet and websites and blogs, a website call to action could be something like "Add to Shopping Cart", "Buy Now" or "Subscribe to Newsletter". The main goal of a call to action is to persuade the visitor to click on or interact further with your website or blog, hopefully ending in the visitor buying a product or service or another conversion goal.

A good website will be laid out in such a way that when a visitor wants to make a slight detour to find out more information correctly placed and worded calls to action are there to guide them back on your conversion path.

So, why do you need a call to action on your website or blog? Many studies have shown that if a website visitor does not find what they are looking for within 3 seconds they will exit your website.

Many SEO experts will only focus on getting a website into the top few results but there should also be focus on the overall online marketing strategy. Similar to the concept of opt-in email, podcasting takes full advantage of technology in reaching a pre-qualified, self-selected audience that craves the information and expertise a podcaster provides. Podcasting gives the strategy of establishing yourself as an expert a whole new playground.

Podcasting is the ultimate tool for reaching a fully-qualified target audience. A podcast is an audio broadcast published to the internet. The broadcast is delivered to subscribers via a feed, usually in an MP3 file format.

For years consulting and service companies have realized that the way to a client’s heart is through information sharing. Be it through trade shows, conferences, seminars, newsletters, or free articles, providing useful information on a topic that potential clients are interested in grabs them – hook, line and sinker.

When a prospect first subscribes to a podcast, they likely are not ready to buy products or services from the podcaster’s company. Chances are they are just getting their feet wet, searching for information. With useful information delivered via a podcast day after day, weekly or monthly, the receiver will realize the value of the expertise demonstrated. Thus, when they are ready to become buyers rather than browsers, the podcaster has the lead.

As an advertising medium podcasts can be used just like a newsletter or press release. For instance, a tax consulting firm may publish a monthly newsletter giving updates on tax laws, information about tax shelters, tips for tax deductions and notification of available services. The newsletters will likely contain contact information and will encourage readers to contract the services of the tax consulting firm.

A podcast can be used in the same way. The only difference is the news and information is delivered via an audio broadcast rather than through an electronic or print newsletter.

There are many advantages to podcasting. In comparison to other types of advertising, it is relatively inexpensive. Podcasts are delivered to a targeted audience, leave a lasting impression on subscribers and establish the provider as an expert in the field. Regularly published podcasts keep the provider’s name and contact information fresh in the minds of the recipients and vast amounts of business can be obtained as a result.

The term Internet Marketing has two different meanings. In general it is a synonym for multi -level marketing and often by mistake considered by same as a pyramid scheme.

While it is possible and highly recommended to make an income by selling to end customers directly, the real clout of Network Marketing is that you are allowed to build a layer of other independent marketers below you, and make a percentage of their combined sales.

There is limited amount of time that a person can spend working. By having a sub layers working with a marketer, he or she can multiply that time. Imagine having sub layers of 100 people each putting in their efforts for only an hour a day for five days a week.

In one month 20,000 hours of work would be done. It would take one person 10 years to produce the same amount of work.

Writing a free ebook is a great way to sell more affiliate products. The ebook can work for you in two different ways and I encourage you to use both methods in each free ebook you write.

The first way is to promote affiliate links directly in your ebook where appropriate. You can casually mention a product in the body of a particular chapter, review a product as part of your ebook, or add an “Additional Resources” section to the end of the book.

The second way is to link to your content site from your ebook. You can offer additional information on the site or link to a review page. By sending your readers to your website you get the chance to expose them to additional affiliate products and have the opportunity to get them on your newsletter list.

Let’s take a look at how you can get started on your first ebook.

Find a topic that you are fairly knowledgeable about and come up with an overall theme for the book. What are people looking for on the particular topic? For example, parents of infants will be interested in tips and strategies to get their baby to sleep through the night. A mom looking for a work at home job may be interested in how to spot a work at home scam and where to look for legitimate jobs.

Come up with an outline, or group some related articles you have written on a particular topic. Now all you have to do is flesh it out a little bit and of course incorporate your affiliate links. An ebook typically consists of at least 25 pages. That may sound like a lot, but you should keep your font size fairly large to make it easier to read on a computer screen.

Let’s talk about format for a moment. You can purchase software to create an ebook, or you can make it a PDF document. PDF documents will work on just about any computer and people are comfortable downloading them.

I usually write my ebooks in Microsoft Word, format it in there, add any pictures or graphics and then turn it into a PFD. You can either do this with Microsoft Acrobat, or use one of the free PDF creation services on the web.

Your next step will be to get the ebook circulating. After all you are not going to make any affiliate sales if no one reads your book. You can offer it as a free download on your site or give it away as a bonus for subscribing to your newsletter. I also like to add a note in the footer of each page that the reader is welcome to pass the book along to others who might be interested in the topic.

Offer the ebook as a free giveaway to other website owners and post it on the free ebook directories. Then sit back and watch the book do the work for you. After a few weeks you should see the affiliate sales come in. Time to move on to another book.

Two definite benefits in one statement.

Don't go out on a limb to create new products and services to get attention. Just, add a special benefit to the ones you already have... maybe it is a quicker service. The most effective things to emphasize are benefits that your competition cannot or is not willing to give.

How many times have you began man hunting?

Sure, as a marketer you scrounge and search for brand new or ancient methods of drawing brand new faces to your place of business. The fact of the matter is that you do not have to find new customers for your sales to grow.

Greet every sale with an offer of an item that is related to the purchase. The offered product does not even have to be yours.

A traditional way to pursue viral marketing online is to offer a free e-book. The book will detail your thoughts on some subject matter, such as marketing.

One makes the book available for downloading and also allows people to send it to others. If you are offering something of quality, the book should spread quickly to thousands and thousands of people.

The ultimate goal is to promote it over and over until hundreds of thousands of people have read it. At that point, you write another e-book which you sell for $3 to $7.

If people liked the first book, they will buy the second.

If you haven't heard the word 'niche' being batted around by Internet Marketers then you haven't been listening. Finding a niche has become the antidote to competing in overly saturated online markets.

First Of All, What is a niche?

According to Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary a niche is described as "a place, employment, status, or activity for which a person or thing is best fitted... a specialized market".

Have you noticed that despite the closing of many businesses in these harsh economic times, the local hobby train store is still around? That the 'hole-in-the-wall' eatery is thriving? Or that trends such as scrapbooking can start with a bang and still close within a year when four similar businesses start up in the same area?

The online business world reflects the same trends as experienced in the offline world - often with faster turnover and startup rates. Those who promote a product or site that targets a small, select audience can tap into a market that is otherwise not being served.

Despite the limitations of the client base, the targeted nature of the business creates a devoted and active market - the aim of any business.

How do I Find A Niche?

Finding a niche requires diligent research. Whether you have access to software that harvests and sorts information or you take a manual approach you must first start with ideas.

With a pen and paper (or computer, if that's more comfortable) brainstorm a list of businesses, products and industries. Create a list of keywords and phrases you think would be used by individuals looking for these items online.

Use a software program such as Wordtracker or a free resource such as the Google Keyword Selector Tool to find keywords for your niche that have a high amount of traffic.

Although a program like Wordtracker makes it easy to find details such as how many sites compete for that market, you can also do your own research.

Concentrate your attention on question phrases such as "how do I..." or "where can I...". These questions will clue you into potential markets that need servicing.

Next, look in Google Answers. Type one of your keywords into the search area. What questions are being asked and how much are people willing to pay for answers? If you find a group of keywords with a high number of questions then enter these words in your browser's search engine.

What sites come up? Do they provide answers or solutions to the problem? How are they making money? Can you see an opportunity to service these individuals?

Finding a niche can open the door to a profitable online business. Research the market and be certain that your product or service is valuable to this group.

Find forums or groups that target this audience and pay close attention to their concerns.

If you can help these people you WILL make money. The best of both worlds!

1. Contact other website owners and offer a link exchange. It is a good idea to contact website owners with sites in the same niche as yours. You can create a 'recommended sites' page or list on your site where you can place links to other sites that agree to a link exchange.

2. Create a 'link to us' section on your website. This is to make an offer to your website visitors to link back to your website. Give them all the information that they will need to link to your site such as URL and anchor text. Have a section where they can leave their details for you to link to their site.

3. Make sure that your website contains good quality information (keyword specific) so that other website owners will want to link to your site. Website owners don't want to be linking to a site that is not of good quality so the quality of your website is always important for link building.

4. Search the internet for other websites that may mention your website or your website keyword specific content but do not include a link to your site. Contact those website owners and ask them to include a link to your website.

5. Post comments on blogs and include a link back to your website. Always make appropriate comments that are related to the post topic or your comment will not likely be approved it is looks like spam.

When you have chosen your keyword phrases you then need to start writing some articles and include your keyword phrases in the article. Include your keywords within the title of your page, description and also include them in the ALT tags of the site. You can also use images in your article as this makes the article more interesting for your readers. An interesting website is one that will have return visitors.

SEOmoz’s Linkscape and MajesticSEO attempt to create the most complete index possible of the web for SEO purposes. Linkscape is considered more user-friendly while Majestic gets you a wider range of data which can also be downloaded.

Xenu’s Link Sleuth is another excellent tool for on-site analysis. It acts as a search engine crawler and checks websites for broken links and displays a continuously updated list of URLs, which you can sort by different criteria. Link Sleuth is a good way to get a look at your own website and to evaluate your internal link structure as well. And you can run reports on websites that you are considering getting links from to see what holes they may have in their site that you could possibly fill.

1. In-context linking.

These are the links that are found within the main body of your website.

To the visitor it seems quite seamless, but in reality you have planned it out to get the best results from the placement of your internal link building. What the visitor will be clicking on, in their mind, are relevant words and they will be seeking out additional information. But you are setting it up so that those words are the keywords you are trying to rank for, and they will go to where you want them to go.

2. Site navigation.

In its simplest terms most people think of site navigation is how they get from one page to another. So, they see a back arrow or a link to the homepage and it helps them move around your site. While that is true, and it is very important to have good navigation, we are more concerned with building links for SEO purposes. Search engines typically like to see at least some basic pages on every site; the homepage, contact information, a privacy statement, and other basic pages should all be linked to each other from every page on your site.

3. Anchor text.

This is the text that appears instead of the link where people will be going. For example, a visitor to your site may see the words "click here", but what they're really clicking on is a link.

Now, if you are trying to rank for the phrase "click here" then that's fine, but chances are you're trying to rank for a different keyword. So, never waste a link by using generic anchor text when doing internal link building.

Let's say you have a website on painting houses; you could have the phrase "click here to get a house painting quote", but only the words "house painting quote" would have the link underneath them.

The idea is that you're trying to rank for the words house painting quote, so having those links will alert the search engines to pay more attention to that text.

I disagree in that it's not authentic to me to do that. If you've been on any of my calls, you know I believe in giving a lot of content. Now that makes me special from other coaches.

If your prospects aren't buying from you, you're missing at least one of the above three critical components of a successful and profitable client/vendor relationship.

Network Marketing Terms Explained

The following are common Network Marketing Terms that you must know and understand:

Network Marketing and MLM (Multi Level Marketing)

MLM is similar to network marketing in that anyone you sponsor/sign-up to an opportunity becomes your 1st level member. Anyone your 1st level member sponsors becomes your 2nd level member, anyone your 2nd level member sponsors becomes your 3rd level member. And so on.

The difference between the two is that with MLM you only earn from enrolling new distributors/affiliates, with Network Marketing you can earn an income just from selling the products and earn from a combination of your sales and your downline's.

Downline

This is the network family tree of your sponsored members and their sponsored members and their sponsored members etc etc.

Upline

This is the family tree going backwards showing the person who sponsored you, then the person who sponsored them and so on.

Commission Plan or Pay Plan

The important factor with network marketing is the structure of commissions earned at each level of your downline. eg 10% of 1st level sales, 40% 2nd level sales and 10% 3rd level sales.

This will then be followed by various bonuses based on total sales volumes etc, such as 2% of total business sales divided among qualifying members.

BV

Bonus Value. A reference figure relating to the amount of sales made. Commissions are paid based on BV. Think of BV as business volume where 1 BV point usually equates to just over $1 of sales.

Auto Ship

An insurance policy with added benefits. Commissions are usually only paid if you meet minimum BV requirements.

So, if you don't sell enough product (or any at all) auto ship automatically orders the minimum requirement for you.

The reason for minimum order requirements is for both business and legal reasons - if you are not an active representative, you are not entitled to commissions (stops people from just promoting the opportunity and never selling or using any products)

As you add more content and include things like downloadable files, pictures, music, and video you will need more web/disk space. Email also takes up disk space. If you have an account with a small amount of disk space I recommend that you go through your account from time to time and delete unnecessary files.

Each web hosting company has their own policy about going over the disk space allocation but it is safe to say that you will be charged for the extra space.

Often this penalty is much higher than regular rates for disk space so it is important to keep an eye on how much space you are using and if you are approaching the limit, either purchase more space or delete some files. Most sites need less than 10 Million Bytes of web space.

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Secure Server, MySQL, Shopping Cart

If you are planning on doing business through your website, you want to see if the hosting company provides SSL (secure server), MySQL and Shopping Cart facilities.

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a global standard security technology developed by Netscape in 1994. It creates an encrypted link between a web server and a web browser to ensure that all data transmitted remains private and secure. Millions of consumers recognize the golden padlock which appears in their browser to indicate they are viewing a secure web page.

MySQL is a database program that stores and processes information

These services normally involve a higher priced package or additional charges. The main thing is to check to see if they are available before you commit to hosting your website with them. You will definitely need SSL if you plan on collecting credit card information on your site.

Control Panel (CPanel)

Make sure that there is a user friendly Control Panel. The CPanel enable you to control and manage all aspects of you website. Such as uploading and downloading files and folders to your website, setting up and accessing your email account, etc.

Technical support Services

Make sure that the web hosting company provides technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year around.

I will not accept a hosting company that does not have staff working on weekends or public holidays. As we know things go wrong at the most inopportune times.

By the way, just because a Hosting Company advertises that it has 24/7 support does not necessarily mean that it really has that kind of service.

Test them out by emailing them at midnight and on Saturday nights, Sunday mornings, etc.

Notice how long it takes for them to respond to you and rather or not they have answered your questions or concerns correctly.

Network Marketing Methods

A Network Marketing method is a method used by a business opportunity, or its structure. Depending on your current circumstances, skills, time constraints etc. you will choose the method most suited to your situation.

The following are summaries of the main three methods you will encounter in Internet Marketing:

1) Network Marketing or Direct Selling

This is the deep end of the business opportunity pool.

You must often invest a lot more time and money into these opportunities, receive training and work as a team. It can be a lot harder to get people to sign-up and even harder to teach your sign-ups to get other people to sign-up. You will find commission plans paying most on 2nd and 3rd level sales for obvious reasons, it promotes growth. Potential earnings are also far greater than any other method and is also the only method that has true 'residual income'. However - it is not always as hard as it first seems with the right support systems and training in place (more on this later!)

2) MLM Cyclers

Usually your first steps into MLM. These are the ones to be very careful with.

Consider these as Network Marketing for beginners. You pay one initial sign-up fee which should actually buy you something (if it doesn't it may well be a scam).

When you have signed-up a fixed number of new people you get a payout, some more product and re-entry into the system (hence a cycle).

These are the cheapest way to get involved in an MLM Business Opportunity. The only flaw with these systems is that because nobody is buying a regular BV, commissions are only generated from new sign-ups.

And you will need more sign-ups every time you cycle. And don't expect most cycler programs to still be around in 5 years time!

These are not recommended.

3) Affiliate Programs

Affiliate Programs are the most basic types of business opportunities.

An affiliate program is a program of selling a company's product by sending people to your affiliate website.

Straight commission per sale, sometimes 2 tier (2 level - earn from signing up other associates).

If you have a popular website this is the easiest way to generate short term income by selecting a related product of interest to your current website traffic. i.e. don't promote beachwear on an Eskimo website

An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site. It originated as the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board, and a technological evolution of the dialup bulletin board system. From a technological standpoint, forums or boards are web applications managing user-generated content.

People participating in an Internet forum may cultivate social bonds and interest groups for a topic made from the discussions.

Early Internet forums could be described as a web version of an electronic mailing list or newsgroup such as exist on Usenet; allowing people to post messages and comment on other messages. Later developments emulated the different newsgroups or individual lists, providing more than one forum, dedicated to a particular topic.

Internet forums are prevalent in several developed countries. In terms of countable posts, Japan is far in the lead with over two million posts per day on their largest forum, 2channel. China also has many millions of posts on forums such as Tianya Club.

Forums perform a function similar to that of dial-up bulletin board systems and Usenet networks that were first created starting in the late 1970s. Early web-based forums date back as far as 1996. A sense of virtual community often develops around forums that have regular users. Technology, computer games and/or video games, sports, music, fashion, religion, and politics are popular areas for forum themes, but there are forums for a huge number of topics. Internet slang and image macros popular across the Internet are abundant and widely used in Internet forums.

Forum software packages are widely available on the Internet and are written in a variety of programming languages, such as PHP, Perl, Java and ASP. The configuration and records of posts can be stored in text files or in a database. Each package offers different features, from the most basic, providing text-only postings, to more advanced packages, offering multimedia support and formatting code usually known as BBCode. Many packages can be integrated easily into an existing website to allow visitors to post comments on articles.

Several other web applications, such as weblog software, also incorporate forum features. Wordpress comments at the bottom of a blog post allow for a single-threaded discussion of any given blog post. Slashcode, on the other hand, is far more complicated, allowing fully threaded discussions and incorporating a robust moderation and meta-moderation system as well as many of the profile features available to forum users.

Forums are governed by a set of individuals, collectively referred to as staff, made up of administrators and moderators, which are responsible for the forums' conception, technical maintenance, and policies creation and enforcing. Most forums have a list of rules detailing the wishes, aim and guidelines of the forums creators. There is usually also a FAQ section contain basic information for new members and people not yet familiar with the use and principles of a forum generally tailored for specific forum software.

Rules on forums usually apply to the entire user body and often have preset exceptions, most commonly designating a section as an exception. For example, in an IT forum any discussion regarding anything but computer programming languages may be against the rules, with the exception of a general chat section.

Forum rules are maintained and enforced by the moderation team, but users are allowed to help out via what is known as a report system. Most American forum software contains such a system. First a warning is usually given; this is commonly in the form of a private message but recent development has made it possible for it to be integrated into the software. Subsequently, if the act is ignored and warnings do not work, the member is usually first exiled from the forum for a number of days. Denying someone access to the site is called a ban. Bans can mean the person can no longer log in or even view the site anymore. If the offender, after the warning sentence, repeats the offense, another ban is given, usually this time a longer one. Continuous harassment of the site eventually leads to a permanent ban. However, in most cases this simply means the account is locked. In extreme cases where the offender after being permanently banned creates another account and continues to harass the site, administrators will apply an IP ban this can also be applied at the server level: if the IP is static, the machine of the offender is prevented from accessing the site. In some extreme circumstances, IP range bans or country bans can be applied; however, this is usually for political, licensing or other reasons.

Offending content is usually deleted. Sometimes if the topic is considered the source of the problem, it is locked; often a poster may request a topic expected to draw problems to be locked as well, although the moderators decide whether to grant it. In a locked thread, members cannot post anymore. In cases where the topic is considered a breach of rules it – with all of its posts – may be deleted.

A thread sometimes called a topic is a collection of posts, usually displayed from oldest to latest, although this is typically configurable: options for newest to oldest and for a threaded view a tree like view applying logical reply structure before chronological order can be available. A thread is defined by a title, an additional description that may summarize the intended discussion, and an opening or original post common abbreviation OP, which can also mean original poster which opens whatever dialogue or makes whatever announcement the poster wished. A thread can contain any number of posts, including multiple posts from the same members, even if they are one after the other.

A thread is contained in a forum, and may have an associated date which is taken as the date of the last post options to order threads by other criteria are generally available. When a member posts in a thread it will jump to the top since it is the latest updated thread. Similarly, other threads will jump in front of it when they receive posts. When a member posts in a thread for no reason but to have it go to the top, it is referred to as a bump or bumping. Threads which are important but rarely receive posts are stickyed. A sticky thread will always appear in front of normal threads, often in its own section.

A threads popularity is measured on forums in reply total posts minus one the opening post counts. Some forums also track page views. Threads meeting a set number of posts or a set number of views may receive a designation such as hot thread and be displayed with a different icon compared to others threads. This icon may stand out more to emphasize the thread.

Opuntia, also known as nopales or paddle cactus, is a genus in the cactus family, Cactaceae.

Currently, only prickly pears are included in this genus of about 200[1] species distributed throughout most of the Americas. Chollas are now separated into the genus Cylindropuntia, which some still consider a subgenus of Opuntia. Austrocylindropuntia, Corynopuntia and Micropuntia are also often included in the present genus, but like Cylindropuntia they seem rather well distinct. Brasiliopuntia and Miqueliopuntia are closer relatives of Opuntia.

The most commonly culinary species is the Indian and Southwestern variety. Most culinary uses of the term prickly pear refer to this species. Prickly pears are also known as tuna, nopal or nopales, from the Nahuatl word nōpalli for the pads, or nostle, from the Nahuatl word nōchtli for the fruit; or paddle cactus (from the resemblance to the ball and paddle toy. This and similar species are native to Mexico.

Prickly pears typically grow with flat, rounded platyclades that are armed with two kinds of spines; large, smooth, fixed spines and small, hairlike prickles called glochids, that easily penetrate skin and detach from the plant. Many types of prickly pears grow into dense, tangled structures.

Like all true cactus species, prickly pears are native only to the Western hemisphere; however, they have been introduced to other parts of the globe. Prickly pear species are found in abundance in Mexico, especially in the central and western regions. They are also found in the Western United States, in arid regions in the Northwest, throughout the mid and lower elevations of the Rocky Mountains such as in Colorado, where species such as Opuntia phaeacantha, Opuntia polyacantha and others become dominant, and especially in the desert Southwest. Prickly pears are also the only types of cactus found to grow natively far east of the Great Plains states; O. humifusa is widespread throughout southern New England and Long Island, where it can be found in Northport, as well as throughout the northern Great Lakes states and southern Ontario, Canada. O. humifusa is also a prominent feature of the flora at Illinois Beach State Park, in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, north of Chicago, and of Indiana Dunes State Park southeast of Chicago.

Most species of Opuntia contain a range of alkaloids in ample quantities, notably substituted phenethylamines. While the mere presence of such compounds has been confirmed in many species without further details, they have been studied more thoroughly in others. Identified compounds of medical significance include 3 methoxytyramine, candicine, hordenine, N-methyltyramine, and tyramine. The Sicilian prickly pear contains the betalain antioxidants betanin and indicaxanthin, with highest levels in their fruits.

The stem of certain Opuntia have been investigated in the treatment of type II diabetes. Although some researchers have shown a blood glucose-lowering effect of streptacantha, another study of three other species of Opuntia showed no such effect. Yet another study, on megacantha, raised concern about toxic effects on the kidney.

It may be that certain species are effective and useful in diabetes while others are not, but this needs to be clarified with further research before recommending its use. Furthermore, when buying nopal in the market, it is impossible to know which species one is buying, and therefore whether or not it is useful in treating diabetes.

Indian Fig Opuntia might have a reducing effect on alcohol hangover by inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators. Studies have yielded differing results, with some studies witnessing significant reductions in nausea, dry mouth, and loss of appetite as well as less risk of a severe hangover, while others witnessing no compelling evidence for effects on alcohol hangover. The gel like sap of prickly pears can be used as hair conditioner.

In Mexico and the Southwest, its pulp and juice have been used to treat numerous maladies, such as wounds and inflammations of the digestive and urinary tracts.

More than 50 million Americans suffer from chronic pain. Many people find they can gain long-term control over their pain through many alternative methods like heat or cold application, music, relaxation, exercise, meditation, acupuncture and a positive attitude.

For the vast majority of people who have chronic pain, there just aren't any pharmacologic or physical interventions that can totally eliminate the pain, says University of Washington (Seattle) pain management expert Dennis C. Turk, PhD.

Pain is a chronic condition, just like hypertension or diabetes, Dr. Turk explains. When you have a chronic condition, you need to do more things for yourself. It's going to last a long time. It's best to help yourself and learn to self-manage and control your pain.

The Options

In addition to traditional pain relievers, non drug methods of pain relief may help you gain that control. Some techniques, such as imagery and the use of hot and cold relax the muscles, help you sleep, and distract you from symptoms. Others, such as music, movies, and recorded comedy routines, take your mind off your physical complaints, as does losing yourself in a good book.

While some remedies require little expertise or help from others, some may require instruction from a professional. Dr. Ronald Glick is the director of the University of Pittsburgh Pain Evaluation and Treatment Center. Dr. Glick recommends that patients seek advice from a chronic pain specialist who can coordinate all aspects of management, including physical therapies and psychological techniques.

While these pain relief techniques help many people with chronic pain, they are not cures for pain.

Heat and Cold

The most important thing about heat and cold is that it gives a sense of control, Dr. Turk says. They are things you can do yourself to help relieve the pain, which can immediately reduce the emotional stress.

Direct Application Heat and cold can be quite helpful for people with musculoskeletal conditions, says Dr. Turk. Something as simple as a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a towel can be a useful self-management technique that relieves muscle tension in the back, neck and shoulders.

Most of us are familiar with holding an ice pack on a twisted ankle or lying on a heating pad for a sore back. But hot and cold treatments can be used in other ways. Moist heat, which is often more effective than dry heat, can be applied with a warm towel or a soak in the tub. An elastic bandage can hold an ice pack in place. A small paper cup filled with water and kept in the freezer becomes an excellent tool for localized cold massage, while iced washcloths can cover a larger area.

Timing Apply heat or cold therapy for periods not to exceed 15 minutes. Allow the area to return to normal body temperature before reapplying the therapy. Some people obtain added relief by alternating heat and ice. Others use heat before exercising and ice after.

Skin Protection

Always place a towel between the cold or heat and the skin. Never lie directly on a heating pad, and if it feels too warm, take it off. Don't combine heat with pain relieving salves, such as mentholated ointments and aspirin creams.

Relaxation The relaxation response, is a term coined by Herbert Benson, MD, of the Mind-Body Medical Institute in Boston. It is an array of beneficial physiologic effects associated with focused relaxation. Some of which may mitigate the perception of pain. For best results, make relaxation a part of your daily routine.

There are a number of ways to invoke the relaxation response, and many audiotapes are available to help. One popular approach is to assume a comfortable position, take several deep breaths, and then focus on your breathing, or a word or sound, while passively avoiding intruding thoughts.

Muscle Relaxation Exercises

Progressive muscle relaxation is a technique that may be effective for both muscle spasm pain and stress reduction.

Relaxation skills are useful in reducing muscle tension, and can help reduce frustration and some of the stress, says Jennifer Markham, PhD, at the University of Pittsburgh Pain Clinic. Progressive muscle relaxation involves focusing your attention on each muscle group until it feels heavy and relaxed. You usually begin in the feet and gradually progress upward.

Imagery Exercises Imagery, which often accompanies the management of pain through relaxation, allows you to visualize what it would be like to let the pain go. If you know what is causing the pain, for instance a pinched nerve in the spine, the idea is to picture the encroaching vertebral space opening and freeing the trapped nerve. By calling on a variety of senses, you can take yourself to a favorite place, like the beach or the mountains. Music, nature sounds and instructional tapes make it easier for beginners to escape to a mental paradise.

Relaxation techniques redirect your thinking from physical pain and onto something else, says Penney Cowan, founder and executive director of the American Chronic Pain Association. Imagining the beach, the sun on your face and the warmth of the sand helps divert your mind from how much your head is hurting.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback offers a measurable response to relaxation and imagery techniques. Through the use of sensors connected to a computer, you receive visual or auditory cues that indicate an increase or decrease in muscle tension, heart rate and skin temperature. Using this feedback, you train yourself to control body functions that you normally don't even think about. Biofeedback may be useful in chronic pain or other conditions associated with muscle spasm or tension, like some headaches.

Exercise Although you may not feel like getting off the couch because you hurt so much, exercising within the confines of your physical limitations can decrease pain. Why? The reasons are complex, but one prominent theory is that exercise releases endorphins, which are natural pain relieving chemicals in your brain.

Exercise is absolutely critical, says Dr. Turk. The type of exercise will depend on the condition, but as a general rule of thumb, the more active you remain and the more you use your muscles, the better off you're going to be.

A physical therapist can tailor an initial exercise plan based on your capacity to exercise, and then gradually make recommendations for increasing how much you do and for how long. Pain experts recommend pacing activities. Overdoing it on good days can come back to haunt you later. It's fine to cut back on your exercise during a flare-up of your pain, but it's important to resume your exercise routine as soon as you feel better.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese Medicine. It involves insertion of very thin needles into the skin at different and very specific points of the body. It has been shown to be effective for treatment of chronic back pain and some forms of pain resulting from nerve damage. It requires several treatments, usually between 2-5 before a response can be seen. Results of acupuncture also largely depend on the skills of the acupuncturist.

Meditation

The benefits of meditation go beyond relaxation response. Studies show that daily meditation may be an excellent tool in fighting chronic pain. There are a variety of different meditation techniques and one should choose a mediation style that is comfortable for him or her. Meditation can be done easily in the privacy of one’s home.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnosis has nothing to do with popular images of stage performance. It was first utilized as a therapeutic modality more than 100 years ago. It is a well documented technique that can be useful in chronic pain management. It is done by a trained and licensed therapist. The exact way by which hypnosis works is not fully understood. It induces the state of focused awareness, which is known to alleviate many forms of pain.

Attitude and Communication

How you think about your aches and discomforts, your level of anxiety and depression, your expectations, and your ability to cope determines how much pain you feel. Cognitive-behavior modification techniques help change unhealthy attitudes and habits that can develop when pain is chronic.

Concentrate on your abilities and find pleasure in the things you can do rather than dwelling on activities that have become difficult because of your pain. Communicate with family members and explain how you're feeling. Don't expect loved ones to read your mind.

Psychology helps people begin to understand they do have some control, even if they don't have a magic wand to make the pain go away, says Dr. Markham. When they realize they have some control over their pain, it gives them hope.

About this time of year many people ask me what they can do to prevent the flu or minimize its impact. That has never seemed more relevant than today; so, I will address this with the best science we have available today. I say “today’s best science” because we simply don’t know everything we need to know about preventing and treating the flu. And we need to remember that not all that long ago “current science” said that the earth was flat and diseases were caused by evils spells or dead ancestors.

Many people never get the flu – no matter which strain we are talking about. Do you? When you get the flu, are your symptoms severe? Are there high-risk people living with you? Then your preference for or against preventive measures must take them into consideration. (What if you got it and survived but transmitted it to them and they died? How would you feel?) In any case, 35,000–40,000 people in North America die of the flu each year. It is estimated that this number will double with H1N1.

Flu protection

There are three pathways you need to focus on with flu protection – any variety: Transmission Infection Inflammation Inflammation

We will begin at the ending: Inflammation from the immune system that incapacitates – even kills – people when they have the flu. MOST IMPORTANT: The flu kills people not by transmission or by infection, but by an inflammatory immune system response called the “cytokine storm.”

Our immune system is designed to neutralize and excrete any non-self protein it finds. That includes the influenza virus. The size of the immune response needs to be equivalent to the strength of the invader.

Think of this as a building on fire: small fires are extinguished by local fire fighters. Some fires are so big that fire fighters from other departments have to be called in to help. So, fires are designated as “one-alarm,” “two-alarm,” “three-alarm,” and so on. At a certain point, our immune system pulls all of the alarms and immune system fractions from all over our body rush to put out the fire, so to speak. However, this is a case of fighting fire with fire. Cytokines are inflammatory. They kill viruses and bacteria by creating inflammation.

The cytokine storm is responsible for all of the symptoms we feel: fever, body aches, nausea, diarrhea, etc. It is also responsible for filling the lungs with mucous (pneumonia/pneumonitis) which is often the fatal trigger in influenza, SARS, Hanta virus, bubonic plague, etc.

To survive we must modulate the cytokine storm so that it does its job but doesn’t overwork and kill us. We make it work smarter, not harder. So we don’t use Vitamin C or Echinacea or anything that “boosts” the immune system. We use immune system modulators so we get exactly the right response. Quercetin (Betalains in Nopalea are quercetin bioflavonoids), green tea polyphenols (found in Energy Now!) and ginseng (Panax and Eleutherococcus found in Adaptogen 10 Plus) all balance the immune system and decrease the cytokine storm.

Infection

Prior to the cytokine storm is the infection stage of influenza. The virus infects the cell by matching a cell receptor called Hemagglutinin. Hemagglutinin (the “H” in H1N1) allows the virus to gain entry to the cell and mutate the cell DNA so it can breed an infection. It also allows the newly mutated DNA to be incorporated into surrounding cells and through cell lines. Hemagglutinin describes “infection” with the flu. Homeostasis must be maintained, even if this is at great sacrifice.

With this image in mind it is no wonder that people feel pulled apart around the holidays; there are just too many changes and too few resources available to meet the demands of homeostasis. Stress pulls us apart and our health suffers.

What makes a viable work at home business? What distinguished one from another. Though the business model may be network marketing, or MLM, the basic principle of building that business is the same. Multilevel marketing (MLM) is a marketing strategy in which the sales force is compensated not only for sales they personally generate, but also for the sales of others they recruit, creating a downline of distributors and a hierarchy of multiple levels of compensation. Other terms for MLM include network marketing, direct selling, and referral marketing.

Although the products and company are supposed to be marketed directly to consumers and potential business partners by means of relationship referrals and word of mouth marketing, critics have charged that most MLMs are pyramid schemes. This is a gross exaggeration in this author's opinion. Making broad statements of this type about a business model is ridiculous, even though, there have been many MLM businesses that are scams and schemes.

MLM companies have been a frequent subject of criticism as well as the target of lawsuits. Criticism has focused on their similarity to illegal pyramid schemes, price fixing of products, high initial startup costs, emphasis on recruitment of lower tiered salespeople over actual sales, encouraging if not requiring salespeople to purchase and use the company's products, potential exploitation of personal relationships which are used as new sales and recruiting targets, complex and sometimes exaggerated compensation schemes, and cult like techniques which some groups use to enhance their members' enthusiasm and devotion. Not all MLM companies operate the same way, and MLM groups have persistently denied that their techniques are anything but legitimate business practices. Once again, a jaded expression of this particular author concerning the MLM process. I suppose that he, or she, would make the statement that the USA is not a stable and viable entity? Preposterous statements like this are always being made concerning the work at home industry. The fact is, it is the only option available to most in this fastly becoming deleted economy of which we find ourselves living with today.

The FTC warns "Not all multilevel marketing plans are legitimate. Some are pyramid schemes. It's best not to get involved in plans where the money you make is based primarily on the number of distributors you recruit and your sales to them, rather than on your sales to people outside the plan who intend to use the products." After experiencing many years of schemes and scams, it is no wonder that the mass of people searching for legitimate work from home businesses find themselves in a constant struggle between good and evil. Generally, if a business sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. It is up to the individual to diligently seek answers, and ask questions of other owners of MLM business models to determine if that is the right one to become involved with.

Network Marketing

Network marketing is along the same lines as MLM with a bit of a difference. In network marketing, the affiliate members may choose to market their businesses by using the conventional approaches of seeking out friends, family and other spheres of influence that they may have. Approaching business in this manner can lead to frustration and often, bad feelings. Its a fact that if one brings in a friend or associate, under the guise of making a lot of money, then that friend may wind up to be an enemy. Having been down that road on several occasions, it is advised to stay far away from good friends in the marketing process.

Direct Selling

Direct selling is marketing and selling products, direct to consumers away from a fixed retail location. Sales are typically made through party plan, one to one demonstrations, and other personal contact arrangements. A text book definition is: "The direct personal presentation, demonstration, and sale of products and services to consumers, usually in their homes or at their jobs."

Industry representative, the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA), reports that its 59 regional member associations accounted for more than US$114 Billion in retail sales in 2007, through the activities of more than 62 million independent sales representatives.

According to the WFDSA, consumers benefit from direct selling because of the convenience and service it provides, including personal demonstration and explanation of products, home delivery, and generous satisfaction guarantees. In contrast to franchising, the cost for an individual to start an independent direct selling business is typically very low with little or no required inventory or other cash commitments to begin.

The United States Direct Selling Association (DSA) reported that in 2000, 55% of adult Americans had at some time purchased goods or services from a direct selling representative and 20% reported that they were currently(6%) or had been in the past(14%) a direct selling representative.

Most direct selling associations, including the Bundesverband Direktvertrieb Deutschland, the direct selling association of Germany, and the WFDSA and DSA require their members to abide by a code of conduct towards a fair partnership both with customers and salesmen. Most national direct selling associations are represented in the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA).

Direct selling is distinct from direct marketing because it is about individual sales agents reaching and dealing directly with clients. Direct marketing is about business organizations seeking a relationship with their customers without going through an agent consultant or retail outlet.

No matter what mode and method is used to build a stable work at home business, there is one thing that should be made very clear. It is not easy, simple or quick, and there are no shortcuts in this industry. When I compose articles for promoting my work at home business, I always use real time information. The phone rings this morning, just before lunch, and I take the call, and its my long time acquaintance, let's just call him John. John says, "hey Butch, how you been doing. Have you got just a few minutes to talk?" Naturally I said that I did. I expected to get marketed to because John has been involved in more deals to make money from a home business than I can even count. John pitched me on the latest and greatest business that with only four signups, you get your system paid for. When I asked John as the value of the business, he drew a blank. He asked, " what do you mean?" I simply stated that why should I join the business, and how would it help me to market my other businesses that I do have currently. "Well, its kinda like a buying club. You save money on groceries, buying cars and all kinds of different types of services.

Obviously, it would seem to me that these guys are trying to pull the oldest trick in the book on people. There are supposedly trying to out do Sam's Club. Now, I do not know about you, but obviously, I can save money, buy the goods and services that I need, and save money by just driving a few short blocks and going to Sam's Club. I do not need this wheel re-invented, and am certainly not looking for a new pre-launch business to join.

Not only this, but he is going to market this business using IBUZZPRO! This company I have gone head to head with on numerous occasions for the simple fact that my phone number gets picked up by their Internet scraping services regularly. I believe that they are the worst examples that the Interment can offer in terms of marketing.

Is it not time for people to actually LEARN before they EARN in the work from home business industry? I spoke with John about educational marketing, and how you should talk with your leads about business plans. Pitching them your newest and greatest deal will only appeal to other MLM junkies like John! When I tried to convey my point about the right way to build a business, it just fell on deaf ears.

A prime example of the mentality of people looking for quick money online. Has never happened, and never will folks. This is the out and out truth of the matter, no matter what you have seen, read or that master marketer that you have been approach by on the phone.

I do not know about you, reader, but quite frankly I am sick of these wanna be, get rich quick, MLM junkie, tell story and BS mocksters and rejects of the work from home business world trying to sell me on their brand new deals. Look, I have the best business in the world. I have consistently worked my business for over seven years. I have learned how to market that business on the Internet very successfully. I am not looking to join YOUR next deal, as I know that is just another dead end street that leads to the once again failure rate business in the work from home world.

I continued to rebuild and improve, never accepting failure or ever quitting. There have been times of prosperity and I used that to invest into the company and save for the hard times. There were hard times and I worked even harder during the challenges, never giving up. After more than ten years the business is strong and I still pour everything into it. An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site. It originated as the modern equivalent of a traditional bulletin board, and a technological evolution of the dialup bulletin board system. From a technological standpoint, forums or boards are web applications managing user-generated content.

People participating in an Internet forum may cultivate social bonds and interest groups for a topic made from the discussions.

Early Internet forums could be described as a web version of an electronic mailing list or newsgroup such as exist on Usenet; allowing people to post messages and comment on other messages. Later developments emulated the different newsgroups or individual lists, providing more than one forum, dedicated to a particular topic.

Internet forums are prevalent in several developed countries. In terms of countable posts, Japan is far in the lead with over two million posts per day on their largest forum, 2channel. China also has many millions of posts on forums such as Tianya Club.

Forums perform a function similar to that of dial-up bulletin board systems and Usenet networks that were first created starting in the late 1970s. Early web-based forums date back as far as 1996. A sense of virtual community often develops around forums that have regular users. Technology, computer games and/or video games, sports, music, fashion, religion, and politics are popular areas for forum themes, but there are forums for a huge number of topics. Internet slang and image macros popular across the Internet are abundant and widely used in Internet forums.

Forum software packages are widely available on the Internet and are written in a variety of programming languages, such as PHP, Perl, Java and ASP. The configuration and records of posts can be stored in text files or in a database. Each package offers different features, from the most basic, providing text-only postings, to more advanced packages, offering multimedia support and formatting code usually known as BBCode. Many packages can be integrated easily into an existing website to allow visitors to post comments on articles.

Several other web applications, such as weblog software, also incorporate forum features. Wordpress comments at the bottom of a blog post allow for a single-threaded discussion of any given blog post. Slashcode, on the other hand, is far more complicated, allowing fully threaded discussions and incorporating a robust moderation and meta-moderation system as well as many of the profile features available to forum users.

Forums are governed by a set of individuals, collectively referred to as staff, made up of administrators and moderators, which are responsible for the forums' conception, technical maintenance, and policies creation and enforcing. Most forums have a list of rules detailing the wishes, aim and guidelines of the forums creators. There is usually also a FAQ section contain basic information for new members and people not yet familiar with the use and principles of a forum generally tailored for specific forum software.

Rules on forums usually apply to the entire user body and often have preset exceptions, most commonly designating a section as an exception. For example, in an IT forum any discussion regarding anything but computer programming languages may be against the rules, with the exception of a general chat section.

Forum rules are maintained and enforced by the moderation team, but users are allowed to help out via what is known as a report system. Most American forum software contains such a system. It consists of a small function applicable to each post including one's own. Using it will notify all currently available moderators of its location, and subsequent action or judgment can be carried out immediately, which is particularly desirable in large or very developed boards. Generally, moderators encourage members to also use the private message system if they wish to report behavior. Moderators will generally frown upon attempts of moderation by non-moderators, especially when the would-be moderators do not even issue a report. Messages from non-moderators acting as moderators generally declare a post as against the rules, or predict punishment. While not harmful, statements which attempt to enforce the rules are discouraged.

When rules are broken several steps are commonly taken. First a warning is usually given; this is commonly in the form of a private message but recent development has made it possible for it to be integrated into the software. Subsequently, if the act is ignored and warnings do not work, the member is usually first exiled from the forum for a number of days. Denying someone access to the site is called a ban. Bans can mean the person can no longer log in or even view the site anymore. If the offender, after the warning sentence, repeats the offense, another ban is given, usually this time a longer one. Continuous harassment of the site eventually leads to a permanent ban. However, in most cases this simply means the account is locked. In extreme cases where the offender after being permanently banned creates another account and continues to harass the site, administrators will apply an IP ban this can also be applied at the server level: if the IP is static, the machine of the offender is prevented from accessing the site. In some extreme circumstances, IP range bans or country bans can be applied; however, this is usually for political, licensing or other reasons.

Offending content is usually deleted. Sometimes if the topic is considered the source of the problem, it is locked; often a poster may request a topic expected to draw problems to be locked as well, although the moderators decide whether to grant it. In a locked thread, members cannot post anymore. In cases where the topic is considered a breach of rules it – with all of its posts – may be deleted.

A thread sometimes called a topic is a collection of posts, usually displayed from oldest to latest, although this is typically configurable: options for newest to oldest and for a threaded view a tree like view applying logical reply structure before chronological order can be available. A thread is defined by a title, an additional description that may summarize the intended discussion, and an opening or original post common abbreviation OP, which can also mean original poster which opens whatever dialogue or makes whatever announcement the poster wished. A thread can contain any number of posts, including multiple posts from the same members, even if they are one after the other.

A thread is contained in a forum, and may have an associated date which is taken as the date of the last post options to order threads by other criteria are generally available. When a member posts in a thread it will jump to the top since it is the latest updated thread. Similarly, other threads will jump in front of it when they receive posts. When a member posts in a thread for no reason but to have it go to the top, it is referred to as a bump or bumping. Threads which are important but rarely receive posts are stickyed. A sticky thread will always appear in front of normal threads, often in its own section.

A threads popularity is measured on forums in reply total posts minus one the opening post counts. Some forums also track page views. Threads meeting a set number of posts or a set number of views may receive a designation such as hot thread and be displayed with a different icon compared to others threads. This icon may stand out more to emphasize the thread.

A forum, just like any website, is only as good as its content. The richness of any work at home forum is entirely dependent upon the writing ability, and the members who post to said forum regularly.

I was sitting here today, looking around on Google at the work at home category, and it came to me how fortunate I really am to be able to work at home, live life exactly how I wish to do it, and have no restrictions placed on my head by a boss. They may even believe that once the site is published, they are ready to make money with their new work at home business. Well folks, if this is what you believe, then I have a message for you. In other words, no one will visit the site, no one will see the site, and it will simply float around on the world wide web with no exposure at all. Oh sure, you could send your friends and family to the site, and have them marvel at how great it looks, but in reality, they are not going to join your business, and all your thinking, planning and dreaming will simply not work out for you.

I think about creating work at home jobs. The process is amazing and confusing, to say the least. For most, finding a work from home job means this. There is excitement in their voice, as they know full well, this is going to be THE ONE that will make you rich, famous and allow you to eventually quit your day job. The whole process only took a couple of minutes, but in those few moments, you said to yourself that this might just work! If it does, your troubles will all be over as the money will begin to flow effortless as water into your life. You hear these so called legends talking about how they took their business from zero to millions. They will teach you duplication, and how to do exactly what they are doing to make millions of dollars in this simple work at home business. This is THE UGLY!

In the ongoing quest for providing the best information concerning starting a work at home business, I delve deeper into this process so as to unlock some of the mysteries for my Google readers. Many work from home, while others, occasionally also referred to as nomad workers or web commuters utilize mobile telecommunications technology to work typically from coffee shops or myriad other locations. Telework is a broader term, referring to substituting telecommunications for any form of work-related travel, thereby eliminating the distance restrictions of telecommuting. All telecommuters are teleworkers but not all teleworkers are telecommuters. A frequently repeated motto is that "work is something you do, not something you travel to". A successful telecommuting program requires a management style which is based on results and not on close scrutiny of individual employees. This is referred to as management by objectives as opposed to management by observation. The terms telecommuting and telework were coined by Jack Nilles in 1973.

These types of jobs are not necessarily what I mean when I say work at home. I am personally not wanting to be tied to any job that does not allow me the flexibility to create and achieve what I wish to achieve on my own merit. Affiliate marketing is a marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts. Examples include rewards sites, where users are rewarded with cash or gifts, for the completion of an offer, and the referral of others to the site. The industry has four core players: the merchant, the network, the publisher and the customer. The market has grown in complexity to warrant a secondary tier of players, including affiliate management agencies, super-affiliates and specialized third parties vendors.

Affiliate marketing overlaps with other Internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization, paid search engine marketing, e-mail marketing, and in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques, such as publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner.

Affiliate marketing using one website to drive traffic to another is a form of online marketing, which is frequently overlooked by advertisers. While search engines, e-mail, and website syndication capture much of the attention of online retailers, affiliate marketing carries a much lower profile. Still, affiliates continue to play a significant role in e-retailers marketing strategies.

The Brick and Mortar Bull Pen

Did you know almost all successful marketing campaigns start out in the Bull Pen? Do you know what a Bull Pen is? I do, because I used to own an ad agency. I am sure many of you reading this are somewhat new to or mystified by the real marketing process. It is not sending or post ad messages to buy your product or service or join your latest get rich quick program. But from where I sit, that is what most self proclaimed Internet marketers do.

All professional ad/marketing and product/software development comes from the Bull Pen. A Bull Pen is comprised of a group of people from a wide spectrum of levels and profession/education into a conference room. The common thread is these people are a loose nit group that is somewhat familiar with the product/service being discussed.

Our Bull Pen had the account executive(s) for the client, the marketing Director, the Art Director, maybe a few designers, even the receptionist and the shop manager included. We would start out by identifying the obvious objective. We need to establish sales, increase sales or establish branding for this product/service/software etc.

The entire group has equal input and is usually directed by a leader. They can last for hours or be especially dynamic and the concept is identified within minutes. This is how we identify keywords, markets and campaign concepts. It establishes a place to begin. It gets everyone looking at the project from the outside in.

At times after several potential concepts are established we would make up several illustrated story boards or reports and then hire a small unrelated focus group that fit the demographics of the targeted market group we felt was effective then get their objective reaction to several of our potentially targeted campaigns.

This would help us get a really good perspective of a solid campaign. Then the marketing and creative team would go to work creating a much more developed presentation for the proposed marketing strategy based on intensive research and development of a final draft.

Again we would convene the Bull Pen members and hash out again. This process almost always gave us excellent direction, kept us honest to the strategy and produced measurable results.
